Damian Culpeper


When Damian Culpeper first started as a part time Subway® Sandwich Artist®, never in his wildest dreams did he think he would own a franchise and that Subway® would be his future.

Damian quickly rose through the ranks. He was promoted to an Assistant Manager, then Manager of a new Subway® restaurant. He worked at Subway® while he completed a Bachelor of Business.

Upon graduating, Damian landed a corporate role and after working for a few months realised that a desk job wasn’t for him.

“I always wanted to run my own business but didn’t know how I was going to do it. The biggest driver for me was finding a good healthy fast food option. Subway ticked all the boxes as there were plenty of fresh food options, plus lots of systems and processes in place to help me run a successful franchise,” Damian said.

Damian purchased his first store five years ago. “I saved hard and found a good Subway® location. It’s on a main road, so has great street visibility. Since I took over the restaurant, I’ve grown the sales by around 25 per cent, which I’m incredibly proud of.

“My job has a great amount of variety. I’m in charge of hiring staff, managing and ordering stock, staff rosters and payroll. I also spend lots of time on the floor, serving and talking to customers. For anyone who doesn’t want to sit behind a desk all day, I really encourage you to consider Subway,” Damian concluded.
